According to UNESCO, these limits will exacerbate a shortage of female teachers and further dilute education quality. Afghanistan has been on a downward educational spiral since the Taliban's return to power in 2021.

Over 2. 4 million girls are unable to attend secondary school, while more than 2 million primary school children are out of school altogether.
