Sydney's Harbour Battle: A Tale of Privilege and Public Interest Woollahra Council's rejection of Rose Bay Marina's expansion plans has sparked a heated debate over the balance between private interests and public spaces in Sydney.

The $2 million proposal aimed to add 32 berths for vessels up to 20 metres long, but planners deemed it an "overdevelopment" that would further privatise Sydney Harbour.

The decision is the latest in a nearly 20 year battle to expand the site, with previous proposals rejected by the Land and Environment Court in 2009 and 2013.
